On the 26th July, one of the greatest masters of Buddhism will travel to Manchester.
His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa is one of the greatest masters of Buddhism. Also known as Thrinley Thaye Dorje, he is the 17th Karmapa since the foundation of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Buddhism in Tibet in the 12th century.
Born in 1983, this young man is the head of the Karma Kagyu tradition and of over 600 monasteries and meditation centres worldwide.
His Holiness has been invited to Manchester by the only English lama, Jampa Thaye, who directs the Dechen international association of Buddhist centres.
His Holiness is visiting the UK as part of his European Tour and will spend two days in Manchester, where he will be giving teachings to Buddhist practitioners.
There will also be the only chance for a non-practitioner to hear him speak while he is in the UK: at a talk he is giving for the general public on Monday 27th July at 7.30pm at Manchester Central (formerly known as the G-Mex Centre). |
