Meditation: General Level

One embarks on the second level of study and practice by receiving in full any of the fundamental teachings composed by the great Indian and Tibetan Buddhist masters of the past.  Such texts are taught as part of Lama Jampa Thaye’s annual programme. Subsequent to receiving such teachings, one engages in personal study of the text or participates in a study group to really enhance one’s understanding.

Those practitioners who wish to practice the profound meditations of the vajrayana begin by participating in a vajrayana initiation ceremony given by the lama at one of the major teaching events.  Most students undertake the practise of Chenrezik, the buddha of compassion, whose meditation also serves as the principal group practice carried out in Dechen centres and groups.
