Regular Pujas and Meditation Practice
Throughout the year members of the Sakya Buddhist Centre maintain a programme of traditional prayers and meditations. Each sadhana or puja focuses on an aspect of enlightened mind embodied in the form of a particular deity.
Participation in these pujas is restricted to those who have received the required teachings (refuge, initiation, reading transmission and instructions) from a qualified lama.
Chenrezik (Mahaumudra)
Chenrezik is the embodiment of enlightened compassion.
Sundays three times a month at 10.30am
Chenrezik (Tangton Gyalpo)
Thursdays at 8.00pm
The Thursday puja is followed by the Study Group which is open to all.
Green Tara
Female embodiment of the liberating compassion of all the buddhas
Sundays once a month at 10.30am
Guru Rinpoche
The great master who established Buddhism in Tibet in the ninth century.
Once a month - on the 10th lunar day
The Sixteen Sthaviras (below)
The realised disciples of the Buddha who vowed to protect the teachings.
Four times a year on each of the four Buddha-days
This event is open to anyone.
Dedications
Pujas performed at the Sakya Centre can be dedicated to the benefit of individuals in the case of illness or death: please speak to any member of the administration team or the person who is leading the puja. It is traditional to make an offering to the centre when making such a request - a sum of £20 is suggested as appropriate.
