Sakya Buddhist Centre London (Sakya Dechen Ling) offers a range of meditation classes and courses that provide an introduction to the wealth of teachings and meditation practices of the Sakya Buddhist tradition and demonstrate their continuing relevance in modern times. We also host major teachings by masters of the tradition.

Meditation Classes & Introductory Courses

Weekly meditation classes focus on the calm-abiding meditation practice through which we can develop a stable, clear and peaceful state of mind. Classes are led by experienced instructors who explain the meditation techniques, how to deepen our experience and how to incorporate the results into our daily lives. Newcomers are welcome at any time.

Other Activities

Major Buddhist Teachings
The Centre regularly hosts teachings by Lama Jampa Thaye and other visiting Sakya Buddhist masters. Please see the events page for more details.

Meditation Programme
The Centre runs an extensive daily programme of group meditation practices (known as 'pujas') including the meditations of Chenrezik and Green Tara. We also celebrate the annual holy days of Buddha. Please click here for a calendar of pujas. Participation in some pujas is restricted to those who have received Refuge or received other prerequisites of practice.

Tibetan Language Classes
The Centre runs classical Tibetan language classes for those wishing to read and translate Tibetan Buddhist texts. Please email for further details: london@dechen.org.

Study Groups
Study groups provide the opportunity to study texts taught by Lama Jampa Thaye and other visiting Lamas in more depth. The study groups are ideal for beginners who have been attending introductory classes for some time and wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the dharma. Retreats

Further meditation classes and teachings are given each summer at the Sakya retreat centre in the Dordogne, France - Sakya Changlochen Ling.

History of Sakya Dechen Ling

SakyaBuddhist Centre London (Sakya Dechen Ling) is one of the principal Sakya Buddhist centres inthe UK. It was officially founded by Lama Jampa Thaye, in 2005. The Centre enables people to learn the systems of meditation and study of the Sakya tradition of Buddhism, which is currently led by H.H. Sakya Trizin.

Since its inception the Centre has grown rapidly, hosting a number of visits from Lama Jampa Thaye and acquiring a property in West London in 2007. The Centre will be blessed in the near future by visits from H.H.Sakya Trizin and his two sons, H.E Ratnavajra Rinpoche and H.E Gyanavajra Rinpoche, as well as regular visits from Lama Jampa Thaye. The Centre’s principal activities are in Notting Hill, West London; classes are also held in Central London.
