As part of the celebrations for Sakya Thinley Rinchen Ling’s 40th year, we are delighted to welcome His HolinessRatna Vajra Rinpoche for this talk on Buddhism’s transformative power within the context of the 21st century.
Born in Dehra Dun, India in 1974, Rinpoche is one of the principal lineage holders of the Sakya tradition and one of the most important of the younger generation of Buddhist teachers. He is the great-grandson of Dakshul Thinley Rinchen, the 39th Throne-Holder of the Sakya tradition (‘Sakya Trizin’) after whom Bristol Sakya Centre is named, and in March 2017, will himself become the 42nd Sakya Trizin. He has received an extensive education in the major Buddhist teachings, and is fluent in English which helps bring these teachings to the West.
His Holiness is married and has three young children. You can read his full biography here.
For this talk, His Eminence will outline the Buddhist path to happiness and freedom from suffering, explaining how it is still possible to achieve this in modern times despite their troubles and distractions.
