Lama Jampa Thaye teaches authentic Buddhist texts by means of detailed explanation and a reading transmission (lung). Students can use their notes from the teachings to refine their understanding of the texts at study groups held at Dechen centres and groups. Teachings take place as morning or one-day events or over several days. Dechen also runs a programme of advanced Sakya courses and advanced Kagyu courses. Examples of texts taught include Nagarjuna’s Letter to a Friend, Thokme Zangpo’s The Thirty-Seven Practices, Atisha’s Jewel Rosary of a Bodhisattva and Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Mind Training. Dechen hosts frequent teaching events on major Buddhist texts. Receiving and studying such teachings is an essential complement to meditation practice in Tibetan Buddhism.
